Early Years Cook's Training
Grub4life offer a range of specialist cookery master classes and training designed specifically for cooks working in the Early Years Childcare setting.
The Early Years Cook’s Training Modules include:
There is a distinct lack of training available to this group of key childcare workers. Children in full time child care eat more meals in the first few years of their lives in the nursery or Children’s Centre than they do at home. The responsibility of providing good quality, nutritious food that children will eat is no mean feat! Cooks are often forgotten when it comes to CPD which is why Grub4life has pooled it’s expertise in nutrition and cooking for the Under 5s to launch a range of training modules especially for the Early Years Cook.
Grub4life have produced recipes and menus which have been enjoyed and approved by over 20,000 pre school children- we’ve seen it all- from food allergies to fussy eaters. We designed our resources to accommodate all of these issues and more- Always while understanding that often just 1 cook is preparing food for over 100 children.
Feedback from participants of pilot training courses include:
“As the line manager of the kitchen staff I found the day gave me an insight in to how to improve and vary the menu. It will make my job assisting staff to produce balanced and nutritious meals for the children that much easier. The kitchen staff have not had this kind of training before...it was great to have specialised training geared to them and children aged 0 to 5. It was a fantastic day”
Neena, Children’s Centre Manager
“The training was really nice. I really enjoyed it. I liked Nigel’s ideas, they were very quick and easy...save a lot of time! I would love to do some more courses.”
Balwinder, Children’s Centre cook.
“I liked it very much. The food made was easy, quick and tasty. I learnt that when I make pasta dishes I can do it all together in one pot! I learnt lots of new recipes and how to change and adapt them.” Forida, Assistant Children’s Centre Cook
Courses are predominantly half days and can accommodate up to six cooks (potentially from multiple sites). All course can be tailored to suit the specific needs of indvidual childcare providers.
Certificates are awarded on successful completion of each level of training.
