All children to receive seasonal flu jab

www.grub4life.org.uk today reports that all children in England over two are to be given the seasonal flu vaccine after scientists concluded it could save thousands of lives by stopping youngsters spreading the virus to old people. 26-07-2012

The £100m scheme, which could be rolled out as early as 2014, will see all children aged two to 17 given the vaccination every autumn through a nasal spray.
 
The vast majority of deaths from flu are in those over 65. Although the recent swine flu strain has caused a number of deaths in healthy children, flu does not usually cause complications in minors.
 
But because children - particularly the very young - have such frequent and close contact with siblings, friends and adults, they pass on the virus to lots of people including the elderly.
