Pupils selling sweets could be excluded

Staff at the St Anselm’s College discovered that some entrepreneurial teenagers were selling fizzy drinks and a selection of treats to other students in the school yard and on the bus.25-06-2009
In a strongly worded letter to parents, Mr Simon Duggan, the headteacher, warned those caught will be excluded from school and "their ill-gotten gains" confiscated. Anti-obesity campaigners said they were 100 per cent behind the school's stance, citing fizzy drinks as a major cause of dental problems and obesity.
Nigel Denby’s comment: Of course there is serious side to this story but I couldn’t help smiling when I read it. I guess you can’t blame kids for trying to earn a little extra pocket money but this is probably not the best example to set to the younger ones- at least they showed a little ingenuity rather than expecting hand outs from Mum and Dad.
