Mumps expected to make resurgence government advisers warn

www.grub4life.org.uk today reports that England is facing a surge in cases of mumps in coming years as children who didn't have vaccinations in the wake of the MMR scare go to University, government advisers have warned. 06-08-2012

The joint committee on vaccination and immunisation said doctors are already seeing clusters of mumps in teenagers whose parents opted not to give them the jab after the MMR scare.

Leading doctors said GPs should check whether children and teenagers are up to date with their vaccines and offer jabs to any who have missed them.
The disease is expected to surge as cases have been low for a decade and the protection offered by vaccination wanes over time.
