Grandparent childcarers risk poverty


Grandparents in low-income families providing free childcare are at risk of financial hardship, says a new report.  The report found that grandparents in families most at risk of poverty are under increasing pressure to take on a caring role.   05-03-2010
It says that one in three families rely on grandparental childcare each week, with working class grandmothers who are still of working age most likely to be providing childcare and to have given up work or reduced their hours for it.  With thanks to Nursery World.  To read the full story go to:
